Vogue Italia Features First Asian Model on its Cover

Tuesday, January 8th by

Fei Fei Sun, a Chinese supermodel is the first Asian to grace the cover of the fashion bible. And she looks fabulous in a mod-themed photo shoot in the January issue that celebrates global fashion.

If you thought Vogue Italia was behind the times as I initially did, consider that both the US and UK versions of the magazine have not yet featured an Asian model on its cover. Editor in Chief Franca Sozzani, who chose Sun for the cover, has made a name for herself by promoting the use of black models in her magazine and taking a stand against anorexia. This latest move to both celebrate Sun's beauty and the multicultural aspects of the fashion industry represents her commitment to promoting a more inclusive view of fashion. It's only 2013, after all. Way to go, Sun! And brava, Sozzani!

And just as importantly, check out that beehive and cat eye! Please, can we keep big hair and dramatic eyes in vogue forever?!
