Like many, many others, I wasn't a fan of Seth Macfarlane as the Oscars host. And I was thrilled to see so many publications take him to task with more speed and articulation than I could ever hope for. Mostly though, for me, his blatant misogyny came in at a close second to his more severe crime of being deeply unfunny. I think that was the case because his brand of sexism was so derivative. You're making fun of boobs, Seth? Puhlease. I've been hearing that since before I had my own pair.
Today YouTuber Kevin Gsi gives us something to help level the playing field: "We Saw Your Junk," a parody of the Oscars opener, "We Saw Your Boobs," highlighting which actors bare their goods in the name of art or money. Ladies and Gentlemne, our answer to inequality: treating the other group just as badly. Equal opportunity objectification! Now that is what feminism is all about!
Sarcasm aside, I love me a good parody and I think this means we can finally put the second-hand embarassment we felt all through the Oscars behind us. I also especially like how Gsi points out the actors who used prosthetics because I'm willing to bet needing a penis stunt double is where the embarrassment actually lies. Check it out and then there's nothing left to do but hope a woman hosts next year's awards show.
